Surgeons who have demonstrated expertise and continually provide premier quality service and a willingness to train their peers in minimally invasive surgery are designated as MASTER® Laparoscopic Surgeons by Master Centers of America, Inc. This corporate designation is made based on stringent qualifications including:
- Completion of an ACGME Approved General Surgery Residency.
- Passage of the American Board of Surgery Certifying Examination.
- Membership in good standing in the American Society of General Surgeons.
- Continuous active surgical practice (Private or Academic) for a minimum of eight years.
- Certification as an Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon by the American Society of General Surgeons based on passage of the PALSS peer review program.
- Demonstration of a personal willingness and ability to train other surgeons in minimal access surgery.
- Willingness to submit to random drug testing.
- Willingness to collect clinical data and undergo continuous peer review in an effort to prove a commitment to excellence.
