Qualifications of a MASTER® Laparoscopic Surgeon

Surgeons who have demonstrated expertise and continually provide premier quality service and a willingness to train their peers in minimally invasive surgery are designated as MASTER® Laparoscopic Surgeons by Master Centers of America, Inc.  This corporate designation is made based on stringent qualifications including:

  1. Completion of an ACGME Approved General Surgery Residency.
  2. Passage of the American Board of Surgery Certifying Examination.
  3. Membership in good standing in the American Society of General Surgeons.
  4. Continuous active surgical practice (Private or Academic) for a minimum of eight years.
  5. Certification as an Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon by the American Society of General Surgeons based on passage of the PALSS peer review program.
  6. Demonstration of a personal willingness and ability to train other surgeons in minimal access surgery.
  7. Willingness to submit to random drug testing.
  8. Willingness to collect clinical data and undergo continuous peer review in an effort to prove a commitment to excellence.
